The dog wakes me up to go out for her run.
This is the way that my day is begun.
I climb back in bed, lie there a while,
My mind goes roaming, sometimes I smile.
It’s homey thoughts of a beautiful kind
That are played back on the screen of my mind.
I flex my muscles to make them more limber
As I drift into this world of “I remember”.
Thank you, Lord, for the fields of flowers.
Thank you, Lord, for the lazy hours
Spent by a lake where I could behold
This tangible proof of Your love unfold.
My dog’s bark breaks into my fun,
And that’s the way my day’s begun.
