Litany of the Unemployed

This depression is getting me down.

There’s no work here to be found.

Lord, please help me.

I’m not asking for charity,

Just work to support my family.

Lord, please help me.

Behind in the rent – the bills still come in.

I’m in such a tizzy, don’t know where to begin.

Lord, please help me.

Food’s getting low, pantry’s almost bare.

The kids are in need of warm clothes to wear,

Lord, please help me.

If only there was a job for me,

Then I could accept my responsibility.

Lord, please help me.

If I just had the chance to earn

My dignity could then return.

Lord, please help me.

I know if I can trust You more,

Better days for me You hold in store.

‘Til then, Lord, please help me.
