The poor get poorer – the rich get richer –
It’s a very sad state of affairs –
I’d like to speak out – to be a “bitcher”,
But nobody really cares.
Promises that are made at the time of election
Are primarily aimed to change your selection.
Then once in office – they’ll do as they please.
On your pocketbook, they’ll tighten the squeeze.
They make sure before the money’s all spent,
They’ve secured the terms of their own retirement.
If there’s one poor man in politics today,
If I’ve offended him in any way,
I offer him my sincere apology,
For in this system, he is, indeed, a rarity.
